Mr. Young is a business and corporate lawyer, with over 40 years as an attorney and counselor to a wide variety of business enterprises. Chairman of the firm's Energy Law Practice Group, he served as general counsel of Peabody Coal Company and its affiliates for 17 years prior to joining the firm in 1986. He provides a wide variety of legal services relating to business transactions of all types, coal industry transactions in particular, and serves the City of Warson Woods, Missouri as city attorney. He is also active in promoting the use of alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Young has served as an arbitrator in numerous business-related disputes during the past 15 years. He is a member of the large-complex case panel of the American Arbitration Association, and he has various advanced training programs of that organization. He is also on the panel of Pinnacle, a St. Louis-based organization which provides arbitration and mediation services. He also provides mediation services, and has completed the two-day training program of the American Academy of Attorney Mediators.
